Prerequisite: Core French, Grade 9, Open
In this unit, students will focus on enhancing their comprehension and engagement with French texts through pre-reading strategies, vocabulary acquisition, and the appropriate use of articles. They will develop their listening comprehension skills, interactive listening abilities, and interpretation of non-verbal cues during conversations.Â
Students will also learn to apply familiar words and phrases in real-life scenarios incorporating interactive listening strategies. Additionally, they will learn to plan and create French texts with a clear understanding of purpose and audience, incorporating appropriate structural and stylistic elements.Â
This unit will develop language proficiency by engaging students in activities and discussions around food preferences, activities and hobbies, transportation and travel, and the use of various French tenses. Students will actively listen, engage in conversations, and incorporate feedback to express opinions, make recommendations, and discuss personal interests.Â
The unit will also help students to enhance their reading comprehension skills, expand their vocabulary, and demonstrate an understanding of different tenses. By the end of the unit, students will have a deeper understanding of French language structures and the ability to effectively communicate in various contexts.Â
This unit will help students develop language proficiency through the exploration and application of different verb tenses, active listening and comprehension skills, vocabulary expansion, and the correct use of prepositions. Students will learn and practice verb tenses such as the Simple Past Tense, Pluperfect Tense, Present Subjunctive, Past Subjunctive, Conditional Tense, and Imperative, enabling them to express various meanings, actions, doubts, desires, recommendations, regrets, and commands. They will engage in activities related to family, describing rooms in a house, discussing pets and animals, and talking about activities and professions.Â
This unit will delve students into the rich world of French language and culture, developing a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives, expressions, and art forms from French-speaking countries. Through various activities and analyses, they will engage with audio recordings, popular songs, written texts, and language structures, fostering cultural awareness and linguistic proficiency in French.
